Academy host Ireland National Team

Trailblazers Academy hosted the Irish National Under 18s Team for a 3 days training camp at Derby College and Noel-Baker school last week.

The camp, aimed to prepare the players for their upcoming European B division championships was hailed a great success by Ireland head coach Tom O Malley "Derby provided us with everything we could have wished for and more. The facilities have been excellent and its given us a real chance to play high quality opposition and an opportunity to work with our guys or specific areas."

The camp included evening  games at Noel-Baker School against Derby Trailblazers Men's EBL 3 and Men's EBL 1 teams which saw the Irish come out on top against EBL 3 but get heavily beaten against EBL 1.

During the morning training sessions took place at Derby College and the afternoons saw competitive scrimmages against Trailblazers U18s, the Academy team and a selection of former academy players who are back from America for the summer. Ireland's players and coaches also spent an hour with local FIBA referee Roger Harrison outlining what to expect from officials during FIBA competitions.
