Derby College is one of the largest further education colleges in England, offering a broad curriculum covering all 15 vocational subject sector areas as well as academic qualifications to 7,500 full-time and 20,500 part-time students.
The College has a strong reputation for supporting international students and has been awarded Highly Trusted Sponsor Status by the UK Border Agency.
With the multi-million pound development of The Joseph Wright Centre and The Roundhouse in the heart of the city, Derby College boasts some of the region's most cutting edge facilities and equipment to provide a 21st century learning environment for students.
From the fully-equipped teaching kitchens at The Roundhouse to the hi-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at Broomfield, we have invested heavily in our teaching and learning facilities. Each Derby College site has its own Learning Resource Centre, providing a full range of books, journals and audio visual resources as well as group study and quiet study areas. Computers are available on all campuses – at some sites laptops can be accessed at the library for use during study periods, breaks and in lessons. Our sports facilities and SENSI salons are open to all learners and each site has its own café and social areas for you to relax in.
With over 1,000 full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, A-levels, BTECs, NVQS and plenty more to choose from, we will almost certainly have a course that's right for you.
We have a thriving student community across the College. The award-winning Students' Union offers a number of services and opportunities to help you make the most of your time at Derby College from events and activities to clubs and societies.
Our excellent teaching has been recognised by TQS, as well as in our recent Ofsted reports. Individual subject areas are also accredited by relevant industry organisations, adding extra esteem to your qualifications. In 2011 we celebrated a 99 per cent A-level pass rate at the Joseph Wright Centre for the third year running – our vocational course success rates are equally impressive. Each year our Celebration Week acknowledges the hard work of all our learners and culminates with a showcase event and the annual Peak Awards ceremony which recognises the success of individual students.
