Derby Trailblazers Centre Kingsley Okoroh has been in fine form during England U18s impressive display at the European Championships.  


Okoroh netted 7 points and pulled down 4 rebounds during Englands historic victory over Spain.


Kingsley also dropped 8 points and collected 10 rebounds in the defeat to Italy.

Benson Arogbo (pictured left) has landed a spot at Lamar Community College in America. He will start his new playing career in the Sunshine state in August 2013.


We wish him well.

International Camp Week sees Belgium visitors


Trailblazers Academy held their first International Summer camp last week (July 21-25 2014) which saw in total 77 young players being coached by a variety of international coaches.


Amongst the 77 campers were 29 players from Belgium who travelled to England with three national league Belgium coaches including former Noel-Baker student and Derby born Marc Hawley, who has spent the last 12 years playing and now coaching in Belgium ...

Blazers academy male team took on GB Ladies in a friendly game at their training facility Worcester Arena to help the ladies prepare for their upcoming European Championship Games.  Wesselingh heads for American exchange

Trailblazer Jake Wesselingh is heading to Bismarck for a 60 day exchange where he will play for the Bismarck Phenom in the AAU Summer League. Wesselingh will be hosted by Academy Coach Matt Shaw's former College coach Jim Feeney.


The Phenom will play summer tournaments in Minnesota, Milwaukee, South Dakota and Las Vegas while Jake will also follow an accelaration program (strength and conditioning) and take part in local individual workouts and scrimmages ...


 Chatterton runner up as British College Sports student-athlete of the year

Blazers Academy captain Emma Chatterton has been named runner up as Female Student Athlete of the year. Chatterton, who is a two sport athlete doubles up as a stand out small forward when on the hard court and a skillful left back warrior when on the football pitch. In football she has represented England Colleges and also lead Derby College to a BSC National runners up spot. She also plays for Aston Villa Ladies. Trailblazers Academy at the World Schools Championship 2015

The Derby Trailblazers Basketball Academy competed at the ISF World Schools Championship in April 2015 representing Basketball England at the event having won the u17 Schools National Title in 2014.

Academy retain East Midland crown


Trailblazers Academy made it four Regional titled in five years as they booked their place in the National Championships in March 2015 with a strong unbeaten record in the East Midlands Regional Tournament.  Five Academy players experience 16 day Denmark tour

Five Trailblazer Academy players have just returned after a 16 day tour of Denmark.


Basketball England ran the tour, which saw player selected from various AASE programs throughout the country. Kayne King, Mitch Nelson, Bec Beer, Liala Meskovska and Beth Fearin-Coster headed to Scandinavia where they took part in daily training sessions and played several games against Danish, Chineese, Icelandic and Swedish opponents. Academy benefit from Belgium trip

24 Derby Trailblazers Basketball Academy student athletes enjoyed a 16 day tour of Belgium, Germany and Holland during August 2015. The tour, funded by Erasmus+ work placements included a variety of off the court events including attending a theme park, Go Karting, natural spa walking, museums, shopping, kayaking and many other team building and cultural experiences.
